Location
Großbeeren is located on the southern boundary of Berlin and is directly connected to the Berlin beltway B 101 and linked to the public transportation connections of the German capital. This convenient location was a precondition for the settlement of the Berlin-Süd Großbeeren cargo transport centre, which was created in the mid-1990s and became the most powerful cargo transport centre in the eastern part of Germany. It offers more than 4,000 jobs. The international Airport BBI Berlin Schoenefeld is only 15 km away and is generating a variety of new jobs.
The municipality has become a particularly attractive place to live, and a popular trip destination in close proximity to the capital. Its population has more than doubled since 1990 and is now almost 7,500. Attractions such as the largest beer garden in the Berlin-Brandenburg area, a water ski track, a golf range, the annual ‘Siegesfest‘ - a re-enactment of the successful battle of Großbeeren against the troops of Napoleon in 1813 -  and last but not least, the pleasant landscape, featuring rolling fields and meadows, offer high quality of life for all residents alike, as well as attracting tourists.
